Seeking seclusion - Visit Konkan

Seeking seclusion

 Karde
One of the more popular beaches in
Dapoli, Karde is a very long beach that
extends far up to Burundi and Murud
Harnai. The beach has a thin film of
white sand covering the underlying
black sand. If lucky enough, an early
morning ride out in to the waters can
help you spot dolphins.

Bhatye
The 1.5km long Bhatye beach is lo-
cated around a kilometre away from
Ratnagiri. Dotted with casuarina trees,
the jagged Sahyadri mountain range
forms the backdrop of this beach. The
beach is famous for its coconut aloo
chaat as well as its gorgeous sunset.

Aare Ware
The twin beaches of Aare and Ware
lie on the Ganpatipule-Ratnagiri route.
Secluded and filled with white sand,
climbing up one of the surrounding
hills here affords beautiful views. The
best view comes from the sunset
point near Aare, which shows the sea
on three sides.

Kelshi
Located about 250km from Mumbai,
Kelshi is a secluded and unexplored
3km beach. Its coast is filled with
Cyprus, coconut and betel nut trees.
The Utambar hill nearby has large black
rocks which afford a good seating place
and better view of the ocean. One of
the main attractions here is a sand
dune formed by a tsunami, dating back
to the 15th century.

Hedvi
Hedvi is a secluded beach close to
the more popular Ganpatipule and
Guhagar. Near the beach is a place
known as Brahmanghal, a 20 feet deep
and 1-2 feet wide gorge formed by the
continuous gradation of black rocks by
the sea. During high tide, the water
gushing in creates a water column
that rises over 30 feet in the air.
